On February 12th, 2015, the planet was blessed with a gift some would compare to the birth of Christ: “Kingsman: The Secret Service.”
“Kingsman” tells the story of a British Secret Service group of spy agents who go by the names of “the Kingsman.” The protagonist of the film, Gary Unwin, or Eggsy, played by Taron Edgerton, mysteriously loses his father at a young age. He is secretly being looked out for by his future mentor, Harry Hart, or Galahad, played by Colin Firth, who feels guilty for being the reason Eggsy’s father died and hopes he may pass his position to Eggsy.
Eggsy must pass dangerous tests and courses to prove he has what it takes to be a Kingsman and fulfill his father’s legacy and his mentor’s place as Galahad. The most important part of being a Kingsman is allowing people in and not giving up, and along the way, Eggsy passes that test and gains friends, a very small dog, and a sense of self.
Unfortunately, trouble is not far away as the antagonist, Richmond Valentine, played by Samuel L. Jackson, launches a plan to “change the world.” Using intellect, a heart of gold and determination, Eggsy is able to defeat Valentine before he executes his plan to “change the world” by ending human civilization.
Director Mathew Vaughn wanted three things in this movie: blood, a villain with a lisp and British people. This action/adventure/comedy spectacular will make you cry, laugh, close your eyes and drool over Eggsy.
