As the velvet carpets are being installed and the cameras are snapping tonight, it is truly hard to believe that when faculty member Shane Richmond was hired, it was with the sole purpose of teaching math. Richmond became known quickly for competing successfully in local Strongman Competitions, but his double life was revealed this year when ESPN went live in Texas to announce that Richmond had broken the record for bareback bronc riding. Richmond did this while sporting his red, bedazzled cowboy boots with a matching hat, which he said was the Dorothy-like luck he needed as he stupefied the crowd while spinning like a tornado around the pen.
Even though he initially was shy to share this side of himself with the community, Richmond is finally coming out to address his career at a Seabury-hosted event, which is sponsored by OpenStax textbook he uses to torture his students with trigonometry. There is a certain peanut shell air wafting through the halls, baby Hank can be spotted in a tuxedo and the only thing to hear is the clip-clap of Richmond’s infamous boots as he walks across the stage preparing to explain his wildin’ rodeo to the community.
