Over the summer, K-Pop fans were excited to see the release of “KPop Demon Hunters,” a movie with a mix of music, action and fantasy. Streaming only on Netflix, this movie was able to become Netflix’s most popular film with the most views, reaching well over 200 million views over the summer. Hearing of this movie from many, I decided it was time to add my name to the list of millions of people who have already watched the movie and see what it is all about.
If I said I didn’t love this movie from the beginning till the very end, I would be lying. There were many moments during this movie that I was deeply invested in, whether it be the plot, the exciting and interesting music or the amazing animations the movie portrayed. The movie follows the path of three K-Pop singers and their mission as hunters to banish the demons in the world with their song, while a boy-band composed of demons fight back against the Hunters to keep their people from banishment forever. Throughout the movie, the demon boy band known as the Saja Boys and the hunters known as Huntrix battle it out for the love of the fans.
While the plot was captivating and enjoyable, the music was undoubtedly the best aspect of this spectacular film. The song “Golden,” sung by Huntrix, has understandably reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 within one month of its release, reaching about 33.8 million streams per week in the US alone. This song, along with many others, was enjoyable to listen to and caused me to listen to it on repeat more often than I’d like to admit.
After having seen this movie nearly a hundred times, I still highly recommend that if you are ever in need of a movie that you can watch time and time again, “KPop Demon Hunters” is definitely the one for you.
