Nagoya first opened in 1989 on 711 W 23rd St in The Malls Shopping Center, and it’s known for its Japanese cuisine. The restaurant is owned by husband and wife Vincent and Michelle Yu. Mr. Yu sometimes works behind the sushi bar, while his wife is a server. It is a family-run restaurant, offering a variety of delicious food items.
Some of the more popular menu items are the sushi rolls, like the California roll and the Fantastic roll. If sushi is not your favorite, do not worry; they have multiple other food items to choose from. The shrimp or vegetable boxes are a delicious substitute to have instead of sushi. Teriyaki boxes with a choice of meat (steak, chicken, shrimp, salmon) are also available and are a tasty option if you are looking for your next meal.
Nagoya’s Japanese food is some of the best in Lawrence because of its wide variety of menu items and how family-friendly it is. There are options to dine in, get takeout or even have the food delivered. The pricing is also pretty affordable, with it being around $12 for rolls and $6 for appetizers. This is a relatively average price that gives you high-quality, healthy and good-value food.
The interior of the restaurant also has a very cozy but almost formal vibe with booths around the sides and smaller tables in the middle for comfortable seating. Towards the back is a sushi bar where you can see some of the food being made. Simple artwork decorates the walls, and lanterns for lighting hang on the ceiling.
Nagoya should be your first choice if you are lost on what to eat for dinner tonight, because almost everyone should be able to find something to eat while keeping a fair price.
