Faculty member Krista Meisch is starting the semester off strong and excited to teach middle and high school Spanish. Even though she is new to the Seabury community, Meisch is a Kansas native. One thing she likes about Seabury is how “it [is] part of an independent school system.”
Meisch was born in Wichita, Kansas, but now lives in Lawrence and is familiar with the location of Seabury. “I’m literally four minutes walking [distance] from my uncle’s house,” she says. Meisch has enjoyed traveling her whole life. “I’ve been to Guatemala a few times. I’ve been to Mexico, and I take my children to England for spring break every year. It’s only a two hour flight from Barcelona [where they live],” she says. “I have two [kids]… my nine-year-old, Jack, and my 11-year–old, Noah.”
Meisch has had a love for the Spanish language for a long time. “I’ve always wanted to learn Spanish ever since I was a little girl. I remember hearing Spanish speakers and just being so intrigued that they could communicate in this whole other language,” she says.
Discussing her favorite things about Seabury, Meisch says, “I love the sense of community. I love the small classes. I love that everybody feels really secure here and really cared for.” The Seabury community is excited to see what the future holds for Meisch.
