Jaden Xiadiyaer joined the small junior class in August, coming from east of the city of Kashgar, in Western China. Since then, he has been gracing the halls with his focused demeanor and spiffy style. “I went to Seabury because I want to live in America, and my aunt and brother live [in Lawrence]. Xiadiyaer speaks three languages: Uyhger, Mandarin and English.
Seabury is very different from school in China. He explains, “Our grades had a lot of people. A single [one] had more than 400 people. Academics were very hard, and there was a lot of heavy competition. I ain’t gonna lie, [my] school was kind of like a jail.” In his small amount of free time he would play sports with friends.
Xiadiyaer appreciates Seabury’s smaller atmosphere and relaxed workload. “Seabury has much more freedom than school in China. I have much more time here to pay attention to my interests, which include basketball, soccer and going to the gym.”
Xiadiyaer wants to study long-term in the United States. “It is a bit too late to join college in China,” he explains. “I am relaxed here.” Xiadiyaer is eager to continue with school in America and the Seabury community. Let’s match that energy and make him feel welcome!
