Coming up on spring break, this is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the Seahawks that joined our community this year. One of the newer students brightening our halls is freshman Henry Kimuri, who joined the Seabury community as an up-and-coming high schooler last fall.
Regarding his decision to attend Seabury, Kimuri recalls the aspects that attracted him, saying, “Well, me and my parents were looking at new schools since I was going into high school … and they introduced me to what Seabury was like. They talked to me about how it was a private school and how there were not a lot of people but how the community was so great, and I was like, ‘Sure, let’s try it out,’ and it’s been fantastic … I like the environment a lot. It’s not as crazy and crowded as public schools, and it feels kind of homey.”
He also considers his favorite class, saying, “I think my favorite class would be Robotics. I think it’s just really fun, and you get to spread your imagination and creativity, which I like.”
Describing his family, Kimuri says, “I have an older brother and an older sister. My older brother is two or three years out of college, and my sister is about two or three years [into] college, so there’s that, and then I have a dog, a cat and a bird.” His favorite part about his pets is that “they’re all very fluffy. My dog is a golden retriever mixed with German shepherd, and she is just the most adorable thing you have ever encountered. My cat Murphy is a ragdoll and gets really, really poofy and is super funny when he’s wet. And my bird, if you scratch him on one part of his neck, he gets super fluffy and cuddly, and it’s nice.”
In regards to his favorite hobbies outside of school, Kimuri says, “I’ve been a huge fan of both [music and soccer] my entire life–I started both [when] I was five, and [I’ve been doing them] since.” He adds that he is “also a little artistic but not really. I’m not great at art, but every once in a while I’ll like to try and create something.”
When it comes to a favorite type of music, Kimuri expresses a variety of appreciation, saying, “I like a lot of things. Mostly stuff that involves piano, and I like a lot of different artists; it’s kind of hard to choose one.” However, he does have specific love for his “favorite movie … a musical called ‘La La Land.’ It’s really cool, and I just love the music that they play.”
With all of these vivid interests and many more, Kimuri is a fabulous addition to our Seabury community. Please continue to make him feel welcome as he finishes out his first year strong!
