On February 14th, 2010, Disney Channel created what has been called the Second Birth of Christ. “Star Struck” tells the classic story of “famous boy meets everyday girl.” Director Michael Grossman noted the chemistry between Sterling Knight and Danielle Campbell off-screen and knew right away that they would be perfect.
Our tale begins with teen girl Jessica Olson and her family vacationing in California. She is constantly bothered by her sister Sarah’s obsession with pop sensation Christopher Wilde. Sarah in hopes of meeting Christopher drags Jessica to see his show, but unfortunately Jessica is the only one to meet Christopher as he accidentally slams a door into her head.
Christopher is a pop star fighting for privacy and is too comfortable being a doormat. As the paparazzi take control of Christopher’s life, he keeps finding himself in situations where he turns to Jessica for help.
After a stay in “Casa de la Grandma,” sightseeing around Los Angeles and the death of Jessica’s Grandma’s car, Petunia, the two slowly start to catch feelings for each other, and an almost secret relationship forms. Desperate to protect Jessica’s private life, Christopher decides they cannot be together. Christopher reports that he never met Jessica and she is just another fan to him.
Lies, photographs and tears are spread, and Jessica is left with a broken heart. Christopher is not the kind to give up, and he makes his way to her hometown in attempts to win her back.
If you love sassy girls, blond men and baller songs, this is the movie for you. A classic whose light will never dim. So grab your popcorn, if you are accompanied by others, sing quietly and enjoy “Star Struck!
