With each new school year, Seabury welcomes a bunch of new students, and this year was no exception with a whole new class of sixth graders. One of those sixth graders is Zoë Ahlander.
Before coming to Seabury, Ahlander went to Tonganoxie Elementary School. She compliments our school, saying, “the people here are a lot nicer.”
With Seabury having multiple traditions, Ahlander shares which ones she enjoyed most: “I really like the Headmaster’s Holiday part, and I like the Elf on the Shelf thing,” she says.
When asked about extracurricular activities, Ahlander says, “I did volleyball; I did cheer and I’m going to do soccer.” Although she has never played soccer before, she has “played volleyball since [she] was in fourth grade, and it’s always just been really good.” She also says, “Plus, it helps if you’re really angry, to hit the ball really hard … [For cheer] I really like the stunts because it makes you feel really strong.” With Ahlander participating in a sport every season, it should be no surprise that her favorite school subject is PE.
In English class right now, Ahlander is “doing an essay for ‘The Westing Game,’ and that’s kind of fun.” Ahlander thought it was a good book, but she says her favorite book is “‘[The Miraculous Journey of] Edward Tulane.’”
Outside of school, Ahlander enjoys multiple hobbies: “I really like to do art and crafts and stuff like that. In the summer, sometimes I swim or do softball” she says. Ahlander adds that she’s “really into theatre and being able to be on stage.”
On the creative theme, Ahlander enjoys listening to music: “I really like Ariana Grande. Her songs are really good,” she says. She also mentions how she likes the movie “Wicked.”
When asked about her favorite TV show, Ahlander says, “I really like ‘Sam and Cat.’”
Ahlander’s home life is quite busy with “two older brothers, a younger brother and a younger sister [and] one dog named Sally.”
When asked about her favorite place she’s traveled to, Ahlander says, “Disney World.” She also says, “If I could go anywhere in the world, I would definitely go to Paris.”
