One unique thing about Seabury is how well we are able to get to know everyone around the school, even the new faces. One of those newer faces is seventh grader Sam Harris!
Harris came to Seabury from Raintree, and one of the biggest differences for him is that Seabury “is so much more structured than Raintree was.” His “favorite class is probably Algebra because Ms. Barclay’s really chill. My favorite part [of Seabury]? That’s a tough one. I really liked Headmaster’s Holiday. That was fun.” At Headmaster’s Holiday, he “played a Halo shooter game.” He also thinks that the most intense Seabury competition is “spoons, because that was crazy. I didn’t play, but I did watch. I stood up on a chair.” Harris is part of Eicher Advising, and his favorite thing about his advising group is “Monroe.”
Although Harris has not been at Seabury for long, he already has some hot takes: “[I] probably [prefer] Seabury days. I like classes like science because I’m pretty good at it, and I get to use my computer. [On Seabury days], I get to have the CHAD classes, and the CHAD classes are actually pretty fun,” he says. His favorite CHAD class is “Computers. It hasn’t been too much of a challenge, though, since I took robotics previously.”
When asked about one of his favorite books, he says, “Favorite book? That’s … a hard one. There’s a lot of things I could think of, but [for] movie, probably ‘Pacific Rim.’ If I had to choose a book … I’m just going to say ‘Project Hail Mary,’” and his favorite video game is “probably Minecraft.” His favorite food is “sushi with a good amount of soy sauce on it. I think I just like the veggie roll kind of stuff,” he says.
Looking into the future, he says that he is excited for “more advanced computers classes, like big game development and stuff like game analysis.” In addition, he has already explored many of Seabury’s extracurriculars: “I’ve done cross country. I did the play. I’m doing tennis and track right now. Think that’s about it. Also, I did robotics for a little while this year, but I’m taking a break from that.”
In his free time, he also enjoys spending time with animals, saying, “I’ve got two black cats [and] a fluffy orange cat, and then we were recently fostering a tiny little black kitten.” As the summer approaches, he is planning on “play[ing] video games I haven’t worked on. I have a pretty good Minecraft build that’s cool.” Let’s all continue to make this creative Seahawk feel welcome!
