When spotlighting Seabury community members, we almost always choose those with skin and all anatomical systems intact. However, our bone-only students have a wealth of interesting attributes too, such as infinityth-grader Bucky the Skeleton.
Skeleton came to our school from “the grave,” and when asked about the biggest difference, he says, “Probably the presence of sunlight and the fact that I can move.”
When it comes to hobbies, he says, “I love going outside and listening to the chirping of the crickets.” The Chronicle’s interviewer didn’t have the heart to tell him that what his ossicles were picking up was likely just faculty member Kara Schrader’s alarm.
When asked for a fun fact about himself, Skeleton says, “Some of my joints are kind of loose.” Unfortunately, this heeds his participation in sports, but he is an avid member of the art club, where he “serves as a stunning inspiration for drawings and paintings.” In fact, his dream career is “to be a fashion model, which [he is] already trying out by wearing a stylish array of blue and green necklaces.”
Regarding his favorite food, Skeleton says, “Well, I’m not exactly equipped with the muscles to swallow, so can we come back to that one?” In fact, he says that his “least favorite time of day is lunch, because I’m extremely lonely.”
Skeleton has no siblings or pets, but he “hope[s] to own an x-ray fish (pristella maxillaris) one day.” He is getting practice by “helping with the chickens here at Seabury.”
His favorite class is “biology, no art, no biology, no art…” The Chronicle’s interviewer grew increasingly befuddled as he continued to contradict himself. He seemed similarly confused when reporting on his advising group, but he is a member of either the Porter or Schrader advisings. We eventually came to the conclusion that this discrepancy stemmed from the fact that Skeleton is actually multiple skeletons!
So … maybe it’s time we give one of these wonderful members of our community a new name. Ideas, anyone?
