Former Veritas Christian School Eagle Amelia Rozzi is one of six freshmen who first spread their Seahawk wings at the outset of this school year. However, it is easy to forget that she is one of our newer faces, as she has wasted no time immersing herself impressively in our community.
Extracurricular activities are one place where Rozzi has become involved, as she says, “I ran cross country this fall; I’m playing basketball right now and I will play soccer this spring.” Her favorite part of participating has been “the team dynamics and meeting other people from different grades in the school.” Alongside being on-court herself, she “follow[s] Purdue’s basketball team” as well.
Rozzi has also enjoyed taking part in Seabury traditions. When it comes to a favorite, she says, “The Homecoming carts, like designing it and building it; that was really fun. And then I’m looking forward to Headmaster’s Holiday.” She also appreciates advising, saying, “My advisor is Ms. Porter. My favorite thing is probably [that] we play a lot of games in advising in the morning, and that’s fun.”
As a student, her favorite class is “probably Biology, because we do a lot of labs in that, and so it’s really fun.”
Regarding hobbies, she says, “I like to run and hike and really just be outside in general.” She has “one dog, [whose] name is Scarlett,” and her favorite thing about her pet is “that she also loves to be outside.”
Her “favorite book is ‘Anne of Green Gables.’” When asked why she loves it, she says, “I really like the story; it kind of just follows her life, and that’s fun to read.” When it comes to a favorite food, she says, “Popsicles are my favorite food, but specifically the cherry popsicles.”
Rozzi is not originally from Kansas, as she says, “I lived in Pennsylvania until I was four, and then we moved to Lawrence.” She also enjoys branching out with travel, and her favorite destination is “Hilton Head Island, South Carolina” because she “love[s] the beach.”
While the beach was not readily available over winter break, Rozzi was able to spend well-earned time with family: “Me and my sister did some sewing together and made pencil pouches,” she says.
Her enthusiasm for activities both during and outside of the school day is one of many reasons we are lucky to have Rozzi in our community! Let’s continue to match her wonderful energy as she finishes out her first year at Seabury strong!
